to Detroit, MI The first three cylinder Shay. Constructed for use as a demonstrator at the Louisana Cotton Exposition in New Orleans. Rather than trying to find a way to mount the third eccentric on the crankshaft, it was decided to utilize the Joy valve gear. This solution, however, proved unpopular and was quickly replaced by the stantard valve gear and eccentric arangement. This was the only Shay with Joy gear. Joy gear does not use eccentrics. |
