Diesel Power Conversion: sn-949 was converted to a diesel drive about 1945 with the engine and transmission mounted in the cab area. The diesel engine was removed in th 1960's and became a display for the "Old Shay Inn" restaurant. Current ideal plans are to replace the missing pistons and operate under steam. Another option is to install another diesel engine in the boiler area. It will also be converted to standard gauge.
